Pac-12 Football Players of the Week - Week One

OFFENSE: Jarek Broussard, So., TB, Colorado (Dallas, Texas)

• Broussard’s 187 rushing yards in Colorado's 48-42 over UCLA are the most ever by a Buff in their collegiate debut and the most by a Pac-12 player in their debut since 2011.
• Became the 19th player (since 1956) to gain 100-or-more yards in a first start at tailback, gaining the third-most in the process. 
• His three rushing touchdowns tied a Colorado record for most touchdowns in a running back’s debut.

Also nominated: Tyler Shough, QB, Oregon; Jermar Jefferson, RB, Oregon State; Dorian Thompson-Robinson, QB, UCLA; Kedon Slovis, QB, USC; Travell Harris, WR, Washington State.

DEFENSE: Merlin Robertson, Jr., LB, Arizona State (Carson, Calif.)

• Robertson recorded a fumble recovery and interception against No. 20 USC, and now has two interceptions in his past three games dating back to last season. 
• He also posted 10 combined tackles, including one tackle for loss and five solo tackles. 
• Kept USC from a potential tying or go-ahead score in the final minutes of the first half when he made a diving interception off the arm of Kedon Slovis at the ASU 10-yard line.
• Late in the third quarter, Robertson tackled USC RB Stephen Carr for a one-yard loss on 4th & 1 at the ASU 6.
• Ended another USC drive in the fourth quarter after recovering a fumble forced by teammate Evan Fields.

SPECIAL TEAMS: Michael Turk, P, Arizona State (Dallas, Texas)

• Turk punted five times and averaged 51.6 yards per punt, and pinned the Trojans inside their own 20-yard line three times.
• The Ray Guy Award watch list honoree also posted three punts 57 yards-or-further, including a game-high punt of 58 yards, and now has 26 career punts over 50 yards

OFFENSIVE LINE: Ryan Walk, Jr., OL, Oregon (Eugene, Ore.)

• Highest graded offensive lineman in the Pac-12 and second highest in the nation for Week 10 by Pro Football Focus (PFF) with a grade of 89.6. 
• Top graded guard in the nation by PFF and his run-blocking grade of 90.2 was second highest in the country. 
• Made his first career start (Right Guard) against Stanford and played 58 snaps combined at right guard and left guard. 
• Named to the PFF National Team of the Week for week 10. 
• Earned a 100 percent assignment grade from the Oregon coaching staff. 
• Helped Oregon rush for the most yards (269) by a Pac-12 team in the open weekend of action while not allowing a sack. 
• Three different Ducks rushed for over 70 yards each for the first time since 2017 while Oregon broke eight runs of 10-plus yards, including six in the second half.
• Oregon improved to 11-0 under head coach Mario Cristobal when rushing for 200 yards.

DEFENSIVE LINE: Marlon Tuipulotu, R-Jr., DT, USC (Independence, Ore.)

• In the season-opener against Arizona State, Tuipulotu had eight tackles, including two for losses with the game's only sack against Sun Devils' QB Jayden Daniels.

Also nominated: Mustafa Johnson, DL, Colorado; Brennan Jackson, E, Washington State.

FRESHMAN: Jayden de Laura, Fr., QB, Washington State (Honolulu, Hawaii)

• First true freshman in school history to open the season as the starting quarterback, de Laura completed 18-of-33 attempts for 227 yards, two touchdowns and one interception. He also added 43 rushing yards on eight attempts and a touchdown. He was the first true freshman Cougar to start any game under center since 2009. 
• His first career TD pass came late in the first quarter, a 29-yard score to Travell Harris. 
• His first rushing touchdown gave WSU a 21-7 lead early in the third quarter, a five-yard score. On the Cougars' next possession, de Laura found Harris again, this time on a 28-yard strike to the back pylon to give Washington State a 28-7 lead.
• Seven of his eight rushing attempts were for positive yards, including two for first downs. He was only sacked once in the game.
